Since 1823 — 人吉市, Kumamoto
Fukano Shuzo began in 1823 when its founder Tokiji Fukano moved from Kurume to Hitoyoshi and took up shochu making. Now led by seventh-generation Seiichi Fukano (president since 2015), the house is known for long maturation — including a koshu rested twenty years in clay pots — under labels like Iroha and Homare no Tsuyu.
